FIRHAT MOKHZANI STRENGTHEN GRIP ON INTEGRA CUP

Championship leader Firhat Mokhzani continued his supremacy in the JPM Honda Integra Cup Malaysia after scoring a comfortable victory in Round 3 of the new series at the Japan GT Championship Malaysia at Sepang Circuit today.

Winner of the opening round last month and second in Round 2, Firhat led from start to finish to finish the 10-lap race around the 5.543-km Formula One track in 25 minutes 46.836 seconds.

After a close battle with Sharjihan Ghouse in the early rounds of the race, Firhat blasted away from Sharijihan, who had to be contended with second place with Faizal Hakimi trailing in third some 10 seconds later.

The win gives Firhat another 10 points to take his tally to 30 points; making him firm favourite for the overall winner in the nine-round championship, which is making its debut in Malaysia under the Malaysian Super Series umbrella.

“Everything was perfect today. Hopefully, everything goes well tomorrow,” said Firhat; clearly referring to an incident In the previous Round 2 where his car was hit by Faizal Hakimi.

Modeled after the famous Japan’s Honda One-Make Race, the drivers competed in the same two-liter Honda Integra machines, which is prepared by JPM Motorsports with the support of Mugen Power, Enkei, Michelin and Honda One-Make Association.

Incorporated as a support race for the Japan GT Championship Malaysia, Round 4 would be held tomorrow with Sharjihan determined to turn the tables against Firhat and refuel his own title challenge.

Currently sixth overall with just seven points, Sharjihan was stripped off his win in Round 2 after he was ruled by the race stewards for committing technical infringement to the car.
